Sweden and Switzerland

While Sweden and Switzerland are more than 500 miles apart from each other, separated by sea and multiple countries, they do have a relationship that connects them together. Their land masses are quite different from each other. Sweden has a long drawn out size sitting along the coast of the Baltic Sea, whereas Switzerland is nestled inside the mainland of Europe encompassed around Germany, Italy, France, and Austria. There are both cold climates and large mountain ranges in both countries. Switzerland speaks German, whereas Sweden speaks Swedish. According to sweden.se, Sweden’s official website, their biggest city, Stockholm, holds a population of about 2.2 million, whilst the total country’s population estimates about 10 million. According to about.ch, Switzerland’s official website, Switzerland holds about 20% of the Alp’s Mountain range. According to the Federal Statistic Office of Switzerland, there are currently 8.4 million residents. Statistics from a German travel website, germany.travel, indicates that the relationship between Germany and Sweden have been occurring since the Thirty-Years War. There is a long trail connecting the two countries that many generations have walked across. From the information on the Switzerland website, more than half of their population is German. This is probably one of the biggest reasons Switzerland and Sweden are often mixed up. Also, being that they both start with the letter S and are in Europe are another contributing factor.
